Privacy Rights – Putting The Client First
- As professional
brokers we at Love & Persson Group are committed to holding our client’s personal
information in strict confidence, and we shall not disclose any such
information unless authorized by our clients, required by law to do
so or required to do so in conducting negotiations with underwriters
or insurers on behalf of the client. Our Privacy Code builds on this
commitment.
Principle
# 1 Love & Persson Group
Are
Accountable
Love & Persson Group
is accountable for all personal information in its
possession or custody, including any personal information disclosed to
third parties for processing or other administrative functions. Love
& Persson Group
has established policies and procedures to comply with this
declaration, and has designated a privacy officer(s) to be accountable
for compliance.
Principle # 2 Love & Persson Group
will Identify
Purposes
Love & Persson Group will identify the purposes for which it collects
personal information, before or when the information is collected.
Principle # 3 Love & Persson Group
will Get The
Clients Consent
Love & Persson Group will make a
reasonable effort to make sure customers understand how their personal
information will be used by the brokerage and insurers. Love
& Persson Group will obtain consent from its customers before or when it
collects or uses the personal information.
A customer’s consent can be express, implied, or given through an
authorized representative. A customer can withdraw consent at any time,
with certain exceptions
Principle # 4 Love &
Persson Group Limits The
Collection of Personal Information
Love & Persson Group limits the amount and type of personal information it
collects. Each broker will collect personal information for the purposes
identified to the customer. Love & Persson Group collects personal
information using policies and procedures which are fair and lawful.
Principle # 5 Love &
Persson Group Limits the Use,
Disclosure and Retention of Personal Information
Love & Persson Group will use or disclose personal information only for
the reasons it was collected, unless a customer gives consent to use or
disclose it for another reason, or it is permitted or required by law.
Under
certain exceptional circumstances,
Love & Persson Groupmay have a legal
duty or right to disclose personal information without the customer’s
knowledge or consent to protect the interests of insurers or the public
interest.
Love & Persson Group
will keep personal information
only as long as necessary for the identified purposes for which it was
collected.

Persson Group will Keep
Personal Information Accurate
Love & Persson Group will keep personal information as accurate, complete
and current as necessary for the identified purposes for which it was
collected.
Customers may, in writing, challenge the accuracy and completeness of
their personal information and request that it be amended as
appropriate.

Client Information
Love & Persson Group protects personal information with safeguards
appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.
Principle # 8 Love &
Persson Group makes its
Information Policies Available to its Clients
Love & Persson Group is open about the policies and procedures it uses to
manage personal information. Customers have access to information about
these policies and procedures. The information will be made available in
a manner that is generally easy to understand.
Principle # 9 Love &
Persson Group makes Personal
Information Accessible
When customers make a request in writing, Love
& Persson Group will within
a reasonable time tell them what personal information it has, what it is
being used for, and to whom it has been disclosed.
When customers request it in writing, Love
& Persson Group will give them
access to their personal information. Love
& Persson Group will respond to
the written request in a timely fashion. In certain situations, however,
Love & Persson Groupmay not be able to give customers access to all their
personal information. Love & Persson Group will explain the reasons for
this lack of access and any recourse the customer may have, except where
prohibited by law.

& Persson Group is Committed to
Addressing Client Complaints and Concerns
Customers may challenge Love & Persson Group compliance with this
declaration. Love & Persson Group has policies and procedures to receive,
investigate, and respond to customers’ complaints and questions.

PRIVACY ACT Information Regarding
the Privacy Act
Why we ask for your information.
We ask you for information to establish and service you. The
information we ask for depends on which product or service you use. For
every product or service, we need your name, address and some
identification. We only collect the information we need and only use if
for the purposes explained to you. Here's why we need some of the other
information we ask for.
1. Birth Date This helps us identify you and ensure that no
one is trying to impersonate you. We may also use it to determine your
eligibility for products and services that may be of benefit to a
particular age group.
2. Social Insurance Number (SIN) Your SIN is required for
products which earn investment income, in order to comply with Revenue
Canada's Income reporting requirements. We also use it to keep your
information separate from that of other customers with a similar name.
This may include information we obtain with your consent through the
credit approval process.
3. Financial Information This is used to assess your
eligibility for credit products such as loans. We also use it to ensure
that the advice we give you is appropriate for you.
4. Health Information This is required for some insurance
products to ensure you are eligible for coverage.
When you apply for a new product or service, we
will indicate in the application or agreement how we intend to use your
information. If we need to use it for another purpose, we will ask you
for your consent at that time.
Love & Persson Group has always treated your private
information in a confidential manner. Love & Persson Group employees have
always been required to sign a confidentiality agreement as a condition
of employment.
For us, the new legislation simply formalizes
practices that have always been in place at Love & Persson Group Agencies.
